A Time to Reflect and Make Change

Good morning one and all!

Today is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of a new season for us as we turn our faces again toward Calvary. This is a time of intentional journeying for us in the Christian community. A time to enter again that wilderness place and listen for the voice of God in our midst. We have extra times of worship and prayer and many churches engage in Lenten studies. For me, Lent and Easter is the most powerful season in the Church year. In this time we connect with the Spirit in a profound way and are called to reflect on the part that we play in the continued crucifixion of the Christ. It is a time to make changes, redirect our lives and recommit to the ministry and mission to which we have been called.

Ann Weems writes these words:

Lent is a time to take the time
To let the power of our faith story take hold of us
A time to let the events
Get up and walk around us,
A time to intensify
Our living into Christ,
A time to hover over
The thoughts of our hearts
A time to place our feet in the streets of Jerusalem
Or walk along the sea and listen to his word
A time to touch his robe
And feel the healing surge through us
A time to ponder and a time to wonder….

Lent is a time to allow a fresh new taste of God!

May our journey this Lent take us into new places of healing and hope and promise as we open ourselves to the amazing presence and power of the Divine!

Blessings Valerie
