Creations’ Song

Good Morning!

I stand on the banks of my beloved river, coffee in hand, and watch as creation wakes from the night slumber. The sun rises in the eastern sky and the light dances across the water. The birds begin to sing and a gentle wind begins to blow. Within a moment there is the song of the universe that echos and my heart joins in the melody. As I stand here I think I understand what the writers of some of the psalms must have seen and felt. Connected with divine presence that permeates creation there is something that rises in the soul and one cannot help but join in praise and celebration. Messages of hope, promise, wonder, love and joy glide on the wings of the wind and find a nesting place in your being.

Experiences like these are the ones that I carry with me throughout the days of my journey that may not be quite as good. This sacred moment becomes the rock on which I stand and the wind that allows me fly. I am drawn to the ancient words of the psalms that reflect the same experience among the ancestors , words like “ Let the sea roar and all that fills it, the world and those who live in it. Let the floods clap their hands; let the hills sing together for joy!” ( from Psalm 98) or “ How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord of hosts. Even the sparrow finds a home, and the swallow a nest for herself where she may lay her young. Happy are those who live in your house, ever sing your praise” (from Psalm 84) or “ Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord all the earth” ( from psalm 96)

After my time on the river and as the voices of the ancestors swirled in my being I came inside my cabin and I wrote:

Creations’ Song

Creation sings the song
Winds blow
Birds sing
Fish jump
Water dances
And a symphony of praise
Resounds throughout the earth.

Sing the song that rises
Add your voice
That all may hear
And see
And feel
Divine mystery
And know amazing grace.

Wherever you find yourself this day may you know a moment of divine presence that can lift you to a place of peace and allow a song to rise in your soul.

Blessings
Valerie
