Kneeling in Bethlehem

Good Morning!

Well, it is beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!!  The church is all decorated. We had our kick- off celebration with the Candle Light concert on Saturday night which was amazing!  On Sunday we had White Gift and the children and youth shared with us the Christmas story. This coming Sunday we will hear a little about Christmas celebrations around the world. Most of us have also done the decorating of our homes and have been busy planning those surprises for family and friends that we will share on Christmas morning.  Over the last few weeks I have been asked by family  “ What do you want for Christmas?”  Perhaps it is a question that you too have been asked. I have to admit, I find that a difficult one to answer. There really isn’t anything that I need or want. Then I realized that this answer is simply a material one and as I was reading  Ann Weems book  “ Kneeling in Bethlehem” I came across the answer to the question for me.

What do I want for Christmas?   By Ann Weems

What do I want for Christmas?

I want to kneel in Bethlehem,

The air thick with alleluias,

The angels singing

That God is born among us.

In the light of the Star

I want to see them come,

The wise ones and the humble.

I want to see them come

Bearing whatever they treasure

To lay at the feet

Of him who gives his life

What do I want for Christmas?

To see in that stable

The whole world kneeling in thanks

For a promise kept:

New life.

For in his nativity

We find ours

My prayer for all of us is that we will be able to kneel in Bethlehem and experience that amazing gift of love that has been so freely given to all creation; that we will know a moment of peace ;  that we will know a moment of being reconciled with the Universe; and that the Christ in us will be reflected into all those dark and shadowed places of our world.

Blessings

Valerie

Reminders of the Week

For many of us today, we hold in our hearts the story of Rev. Gordie MacLean who touched our lives with love. 5 years ago today he yielded his place in the universe and rose again in glory.
